Stop-motion animation - Short film

In 2025 I got the opportunity to work as the key animator for “Wad is, is nu”. The short film, directed by Jikke Lesterhuis, takes place in the Wadden Sea. With the coming ebb the water falls and reveals a restaurant.

The film follows the fragile life cycle of the creatures that reveal themself during the ebb period.

Mud snails, algae, birds and crabs. For me as an animator it was a great opportunity for lively character animation. I’m proud of my work on this film. There were many challenges and limitations that we needed to face as a team. Our work led to a whimsically illustrated visual story. The film will play as a short film in front of a feature film in Dutch cinemas. It premiered at the Dutch film festival of 2025.
